Orange Chicken

Ingredients
Ingredients For marinade:
Orange zest 1 teaspoon
Fresh orange juice (I used Valencia oranges) 1/2 Cup
Vinegar 1/3 Cup
Soy sauce 1/4 Cup
Sugar 1/4 Cup
Ginger powder 1/4 teaspoon
Chili sauce/hot sauce 1 teaspoon (or more according to your taste)
Black pepper to taste
Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
Grated onion (with juices) 3 tablespoons
Chicken cube 1
ingredients For Chicken:
Boneless chicken 1 Kg
2 tablespoons corn starch + 2 tablespoons water (mix both)
Extra corn starch 1 Cup (for coating)
Oil for frying as needed
Sesame seeds for garnishing
ingredients For orange topping:
Fresh orange juice (I used Valencia oranges) 1/2 Cup
Lime 1
Sugar (only if the oranges are not sweet enough)1 tablespoon
Chili flakes to taste
Orange cut into chunks
Instructions
Step 1: Marination
Cut chicken into 1-inch cubes.
Mix all the ingredients for marinade and add to the chicken cubes.
Marinate for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Topping Preparation
Cook all the ingredients together to make a topping.
Step 3: Cooking
Strain the chicken out of the marinade.
Cook the marinade on high flame, when it boils add corn starch mixed in water. Cook until the sauce is thickened.
Dip the chicken pieces in egg and then in corn starch.
Deep fry (don’t shallow fry otherwise the coating will come off).
Make sure the chicken pieces are cooked completely.
Mix the chicken in the warm sauce. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and top with orange dressing.
Serve hot with boiled rice and enjoy!
