10-minute “Falafel” Recipe

Ingredients

  • Chick peas 1 cup, soaked overnight without soda
  • Garlic cloves 4
  • Green chilies 3-4,
  • Onions 2 big, chopped
  • Fresh green coriander 1.5 cups, chopped
  • Salt 3/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder 2 tbsp
  • Olive Oil 3 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice 2 tbsp
  • Baking Soda 1/4 tsp at the time of cooking (Do not add beforehand if you are going to keep the mixture in refrigerator for a day)

Preparation

  1. Soak chick peas in water overnight.
  2. Next day discard the water and wash the chick peas again.
  3. Drain the excess water.
  4. Transfer the chick peas to a food processor. Add the remaining ingredients and process until the mixture is finely ground and just holds together.
  5. Waffle maker: heat waffle maker and place 1 teaspoon full dallop in each plate. Do not press the mixture. Close the waffle maker and cook for 4-5 minutes or until golden in color.
  6. Stovetop: Shape 1 tsp full mixture into balls using your hands (greased with oil). Drizzle some oil in a pan and shallow fry the balls on medium to low flame for 4-5 minutes or until golden.
  7. Serve immediately with tahini & Zaatar Dip.
  8. Enjoy!
