Chocolate Energy Balls for School Going Kids (makes 24 balls)

Ingredients

  • Walnuts 1/2 cup
  • Almonds 1/2 cup
  • Pistachio 1/3 cup
  • Flax seeds 1/4 cup
  • Pumpkin seeds 1/4 cup
  • Chia seeds 1 tbsp
  • Chocolate 200 grams (I used milk chocolate for my kids, you can even use dark chocolate or white chocolate)
  • Instant oats 1 cup
  • Raisins 1/4 cup
  • Honey 3 tbsp

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan add 1 cup of instant oats and dry roast until you can smell the aroma of toasted oats. Grind the oats into fine powder.
  2. Meanwhile, in another saucepan, add walnuts, almonds and pistachio and dry roast (without oil) on low flame until crunchy.
  3. Add flax seeds, pumpkin seeds and chia seeds and dry roast for 3-4 more minutes on low flame.
  4. Take off the flame and coarsely chop in a chopper.
  5. Break the chocolate into chunks and add to the same saucepan which is still hot. The heat would be enough to melt the chocolate without putting it on water bath. Completely melt the chocolate.
  6. Now in a mixing bowl, add oats, chopped nuts, melted chocolate, raisins and honey.
  7. Mix well and shape into balls. If you feel the mixture cannot be shaped, just heat it in the microwave for 10 seconds and shape the balls.
  8. Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks. No need to refrigerate.
  9. One energy ball is enough for 1 kid in the morning with a glass of milk.
  10. Enjoy!
