Kishmish Rolls

Makes 12 regular sized rolls

Ingredients

Dough

  • Plain flour 3 cups
  • Instant yeast 1/2 tbsp
  • Melted butter 85 grams
  • Milk 300 ml, lukewarm

Filling

  • Kishmish (Raisins) 3/4 cups
  • Milk 60 ml
  • Brown sugar 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon powder 1 tsp

Topping

  • Honey

Preparation

  1. Dough: Add plain flour and instant yeast to a mixing bowl and mix.
  2. Add melted butter to the flour and gently mix.
  3. Add lukewarm milk to the flour and knead for 7-10 minutes into a soft and smooth dough.
  4. Cover and allow the dough to rise until double in size.
  5. NOTE: I did not add any sugar with yeast….so yes, yeast can work even without sugar 😊
  6. Filling: Add kishmish, milk brown sugar and cinnamon powder to a food processor and make a smooth thick paste. Keep aside.
  7. When the dough rises, take out of the bowl on to the countertop and deflate using hands.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  9. Divide the dough into 2 parts.
  10. Roll one part into a thin sheet using a rolling pin and apply half of the kishmish filling paste on the sheet leaving the sides.
  11. Fold all sides, cut and shape into 6 rolls. Please watch the video for the full demonstration.
  12. Repeat with the second part of the dough.
  13. Place 6 rolls in a baking tray lines with a parchment paper.
  14. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 20-25 minutes. Brush with honey as soon as the buns are out of the oven.
