Quick Pizza Sauce Recipe

Pizza sauce, as we all know, is the main ingredient of any pizza that requires tomato pizza sauce. Pizza sauce that I am sharing with you today is very rich and thick. It is authentic in flavor, super easy, can be whipped up in minutes and less expensive than the store bought version.

I am going to share two versions of pizza sauce here, one with tomato puree which gives the most authentic flavor and other with fresh tomatoes for those who do not have tomato puree/paste at hand.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tomato can of 400 grams (or 4 -5 ripe tomatoes)
  • Tomato Paste 65 grams or 1/2 packet from 135 gm packet (or 4-5 tablespoons of ketchup)
  • Olive oil 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic clove 1
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • Oregano 1 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon

preparation:

Tomato Puree Version:

  1. Blend tomato can and tomato puree together in a blender.
  2. Chop a clove of garlic into small chunks.
  3. Take a pan and add olive oil to it.
  4. Add the garlic and saute for a minute until the aroma is released. Do not let it brown otherwise the sauce won’t taste as good.
  5. Now add the blended tomato mixture (can and puree) to the pan.
  6. Add the remaining spices (sugar, salt, oregano. chili flakes and black pepper powder).
  7. Cook the sauce on medium heat until it thickens to your required consistency.

Fresh Tomato Version:

  1.  First we need to remove the tomato peel. Just make an X on the bottom of the tomatoes and immerse in boiling water for a minute. Take them out and immediately immerse into a bowl of cold water, once cool enough to touch, remove the peel. It will slip off like a charm
  2. Blend the tomatoes with little water.
  3. Chop a clove of garlic into small chunks.
  4. Take a pan and add olive oil to it.
  5. Add the garlic and saute for a minute until the aroma is released. Do not let it brown otherwise the sauce won’t taste as good.
  6. Now add the blended tomatoes to the pan.
  7. Add the remaining spices (sugar, salt, oregano. chili flakes and black pepper powder) and ketchup.
  8. Cook the sauce on medium heat until it thickens to your required consistency.

Storage Instructions:

  • Refrigerator: For 3-4 days
